Our Kitchen Renovation Process

At Grand Merit Construction Inc., we follow a structured kitchen renovation process for homeowners in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). From initial planning to final installation, our approach emphasizes quality workmanship, efficient project coordination, and clear communication throughout each stage of your kitchen remodel.

1. Initial Consultation and Site Assessment: We discuss your kitchen renovation goals, design preferences, and budget while assessing the existing layout and conditions. We review proposed improvements, take necessary measurements, and identify any potential challenges that may affect the project scope.

2. Detailed Estimate and Project Planning: We prepare a detailed kitchen renovation estimate outlining the proposed work, material allowances, estimated timeline, and payment terms. Once approved, we confirm material selections, installation requirements, and scheduling before construction begins.

3. Kitchen Demolition and Site Preparation: We protect surrounding areas and remove existing kitchen cabinets, countertops, backsplashes, flooring, and other components included in the renovation. Exposed surfaces are assessed, and the space is prepared for necessary repairs and modifications.

4. Drywall Repairs and Surface Preparation: Following demolition and any required plumbing or electrical rough-in work, we complete drywall repairs, patching, taping, sanding, and surface preparation. Priming and initial painting are completed where appropriate before new kitchen installations.

5. Kitchen Installation and Interior Finishing: We coordinate kitchen flooring, cabinet installation, countertop installation, backsplash tiling, and fixture replacements according to the approved scope. Work follows the appropriate installation sequence, with final painting, trim, caulking, and finishing details completed as needed.

6. Final Inspection and Project Completion: We review the completed kitchen renovation, check installation details, and address outstanding items within the agreed scope. Following cleanup, we conduct a final walkthrough with the homeowner to review the finished work before project handover.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We’ve had Ramin and Hossein come back a second time to help with drywall and wall patching work, and we’ve been consistently impressed with their professionalism and quality of work. They are polite, knowledgeable, and very courteous, always showing up on time and taking the time to explain things clearly.

Their work is meticulous, with great attention to detail, and they leave the area exceptionally tidy once the job is done. We also really appreciated their honest advice and willingness to help us weigh different renovation/repair options rather than simply pushing one approach. It’s clear they care about doing the job properly and helping you make informed decisions. Highly recommend Ramin and Hossein for anyone looking for reliable, skilled, and professional renovation and repair work.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Homestars. I was very happy with the plaster repair done by Grand Merit Construction. The 2 gentlemen that did the work were friendly and very considerate of my mothers house. After the work was completed, one of the employees showed me step-by-step pictures of the work he did in every stage which I really appreciated. Then he asked me to check out the work and made sure I was satisfied before he left. Both workers were kind, considerate and most importantly, skilled. After I supplied them with existing matching paint, they painted the repaired area for me and now it looks perfect. I would definately not hesitate to call Grand Merit Construction for future work. Thanks Guys.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Homestars. We are very happy with the work. The job was completed in the agreed timeframe, to a very high standard. When unexpected conditions were found, which is not surprising in our old house, they clearly communicated the options for dealing with the situation. The final bill was actually lower than the estimate due to changes in the scope of work. The two workers, Ramin and Hossein, were pleasant, polite and professional to deal with and clearly explained everything. They documented the work at every stage with photos. They were careful about protecting the floors and cleaned up afterwards. We will definitely hire them again if we have another job.

Frequently Asked Questions About Bathroom Renovations

Find answers about our services, estimates, timelines, materials, and warranties. Additionally, learn what to expect throughout your project.

How much does a kitchen renovation cost in Toronto?

Kitchen renovation costs vary depending on the size of the space, scope of work, material selections, and existing conditions. Smaller upgrades, such as backsplash or flooring replacement, generally cost less than complete kitchen remodels. We provide detailed estimates based on your specific project requirements.

How long does a kitchen renovation take?

The timeline depends on the scope and complexity of the renovation. Smaller upgrades may take a few days, while complete kitchen renovations can require several weeks. Material availability, custom cabinetry, and necessary plumbing or electrical modifications may also affect the schedule.

Can I renovate my kitchen without replacing everything?

Yes. Many kitchens can be updated without a complete remodel. Replacing countertops, backsplashes, flooring, lighting, or selected fixtures can improve the appearance and functionality of your kitchen while retaining existing components that are still in good condition.

Do I need a permit for a kitchen renovation in Toronto?

Permits are generally not required for cosmetic improvements such as painting, cabinet replacement, or flooring installation. However, structural alterations and certain plumbing or mechanical modifications may require building permits. Electrical work may require separate notification and inspection through the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA).

Can I choose my own kitchen renovation materials?

Yes. Homeowners can select their preferred cabinets, countertops, tiles, flooring, fixtures, and finishes. We can work with customer-supplied materials, provided they are suitable for the intended application and compatible with the installation requirements.

Can I stay in my home during a kitchen renovation?

In most cases, homeowners can remain in their homes during a kitchen renovation. However, access to the kitchen may be temporarily restricted during demolition, installation, or finishing. We discuss the expected disruptions and project schedule before work begins.

Do you provide partial kitchen renovations and upgrades?

Yes. In addition to complete kitchen remodeling, we provide individual renovation services, including cabinet installation, backsplash tiling, flooring replacement, drywall repairs, painting, and other kitchen improvements.

Do you offer free kitchen renovation estimates?

Yes. Grand Merit Construction Inc. provides free, no-obligation kitchen renovation estimates in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. Contact us to discuss your project requirements and arrange an assessment.
